Neu Rush Midnight

Rush Manning already lives the discopop dream, but he’s far from spent.

Oh, to be Russ Manning. He spends two years hanging out with George Lewis Jr., aka. Twin Shadow, touring the world, playing the bass guitar. Recording music of his own in hotel rooms, with the assistance of Lewis Jr.’s production duties, his forthcoming EP - on darling label Cascine - doesn’t show any signs of this run of good luck coming to a harsh halt.

He fits the Cascine mould of sleek, forward-thinking pop with frightening ease. His name sounds like a perfume that you’d find in the pricier range of duty free. Rush is a good enough Christian name. Add ‘Midnight’ to the occasion and you’re a guaranteed living superstar. To be this man.

Two tracks have been unveiled from a forthcoming EP. The standout showcases the Twin Shadow influence to devastating effect; shuffling rhythm sections and show-stopping bass lines, all pieced together with the kind of synth line that comes to life in late night surroundings. It’s disco-pop gone all glisteningly melancholic. We need more of this.

Stream ‘The Night Was Young Enough’. Rush Midnight releases a debut EP, due out on Cascine, 30th October.
