Latitude 2015 Susanne Sundfør talks summer festivals ahead of Latitude

“We had a great time!” she says of last year’s event.

Susanne Sundfør will be heading to Latitude this weekend to help celebrate the festival’s 10th birthday. She’ll be playing on a line up that also includes headliners Alt-J, Portishead and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, as well as James Blake, Warpaint, Wolf Alice, Years & Years, Laura Marling and loads, loads more.

“I’ve actually been to Latitude before,” she says, while waiting for a flight to London, where she’s recently moved to. “I performed together with Røyksopp on their tour with Robyn. We had a great time!”

“There are quite a few festivals in Europe that I’m looking forward to,” Susanne continues. “I haven’t written anything new yet, so I don’t think for the summer there’s gonna be any new material unfortunately,” she says, before adding, “or maybe not!”

While her favourite part of any festival is “the vibe, the people, the sun,” she has had the odd bad experience. “I went to a festival once and slept in a tent where we forgot to close the mosquito net. I woke up in the morning, hungover and looking at a spider slowly descending towards my face. I got up and realised the whole tent was full of insects. Not very pleasant…”

Susanne Sundfør will play Latitude (16th - 19th July), where DIY is an official media partner. Tickets are on sale now. Visit diymag.com/presents for more information.
