Advertorial feature Get excited about… The Long Road Festival 2024

We’ve teamed up with the festival’s sponsor Travel Texas to guide you through some of this year’s brilliant Texan twists.

The Bank Holiday is on its way and Leicestershire will once again be transformed into a haven of country, Americana and roots for this year’s edition of The Long Road Festival. What’s even more exciting, though, is that the 2024 event is set to be given an extra authentic twist, with Travel Texas being the festival’s official sponsors. And because everything is bigger in Texas, that means the weekend will be even more jam-packed, boasting a whole host of incredible Texan musicians, some brilliant BBQ and loads more Lone Star-related fun besides.

To celebrate Travel Texas and their current Texas Frontiers campaign, we’re offering up the ultimate survival guide to this year’s Long Road Festival, giving you a glimpse into everything Texan that you can get involved with at this year’s event. So what are you waiting for? Scroll down to discover more.

Discover some incredible Texan musicians

The Long Road is, first and foremost, a celebration of music, which is why Travel Texas have invited a slew of different Texan artists to join in the fun. From the more Americana-leaning sounds of Flatland Cavalry - a country six-piece hailing from the birthplace of Buddy Holly, Lubbock, TX - through to the more classic, personal country stylings of West Texas native Randall King, there’s a whole host of talent on display across the weekend.

Also heading to the festival - and both making their international live debuts at The Long Road this summer - are reflective songwriter John Baumann and R&B outfit THEBROSFRESH, who are visiting from their new home of Austin, TX. “It will be my first time to perform outside of the United States and I couldn’t be more excited to perform at The Long Road festival,” John has said, of his upcoming visit. “The line-up is fantastic, and I am honoured to be part of it. I have a lot of friends who are playing. It’s great to see country and Americana come together in the United Kingdom.”

“We’re beyond thrilled to bring their unique blend of R&B and rock to The Long Road festival,” add THEBROSFRESH, “marking our first international performance in the UK. Austin, Texas, has become a second home for us, and we’re excited to share the energy and soul we’ve cultivated there with a new audience across the pond.”

Visit The Lonesome Dove to get a taste of Fort Worth

As anyone who’s visited the Lone Star state will know, food is a very big deal to Texans, which is why the Weber Stage will be playing host to a very special ‘Taste of Forth Worth’ experience. Hosted by renowned chef Tim Love, he’ll be showcasing his BBQ skills in a series of live grilling and sampling demos across the weekend; plus, the festival will also host The Lonesome Dove experience - a replica of his famous Fort Worth Lonesome Dove Bistro, where attendees will be able pick up specially-branded merch, meet the chef himself, and get involved a tequila-fulled shot workshop. And if that isn’t enough to whet your appetite, weekend ticket-holders can visit The Lonesome Dove pop-up restaurant for a chance to win an exclusive invite to the Sunday sitting.
