News The Neu Bulletin (11th April 2014)

Neu’s weekend new music guide contains Raleigh Ritchie, SIREN and ULYSEE.

The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. We can’t please everyone, sorry.

Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “big Neu thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery.

THE GIG
Raleigh Ritchie - London, KOKO

Earlier this week the supremely talented Raleigh Ritchie gave even more life to his rising stock with ‘The Chased’. Out with the despondency, in with the bravado, Raleigh has this stunning ability to turn emotions on their head. Live, he provides the perfect match for tear-strewn audiences strung out by the working week.

THE BIG NEU THING
SIREN - I Think I Like You

The most talked about debut track of the week? No doubt about it. SIREN’s first work is a hand-clapping, honest-to-a-T giant that’s top of the Hype Machine charts, destined to match that feat on Shazam and who knows, maybe the actual charts to boot. The California duo of Kat Ostenberg and Skyler Stonestreet have something special with ‘I Think I Like You’, and they’re fully aware of it. Top this with a couple of head-spinning triumphs of similar quality and that’s it, job done.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
ULYSEE - Wounds

Taken from Belgian production trio ULYSEE’s debut EP ‘U is for Ulysee’, ‘Wounds’ is a track that does everything in its power to rival Greek gods. Countless ingredients are thrown into a melting pot: Sitar, throbbing bass, foggy vocals - sometimes this kind of cacophony distracts, but at the heart of ‘Wounds’ is a swelteringly hot melody, the type Ibiza clubs might even end up falling for.
