Two Jackals support Gabriel Bruce, Goldheart Assembly - The Social, London

We’re really, really excited by the prospect of our most recent Discovery Of The Week, Two Jackals. Sure, two rough edged demos won’t guarantee a career of riches and royalties, but there’s every chance these guys from Brighton are honing in on something a little bit special. Tonight they take to the stage to offer up further indication of their deeply intimate, crepuscular musicianship. It’s one you can’t afford to miss.

Troumaca - Lady Colour

We first heard mention of Troumaca when talking to Harry from Peace a few months back. He mentioned they were best mates and that they’d often go to the local house clubs before the whole ‘B-town’ thing took off. The five-piece now lay claim to their debut EP, out on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood label in January 2013, and they further fledge light on the sheer diversity of Birmingham’s scene. This is more in line with the whimsical, genre-defying work of Fun Adults or the manic pop of Everything Everything than anything B-town’s called its own. ‘Lady Colour’ exists somewhere beyond standard categorisation, and it’s all the better for it.

Artful Dodger - Please Don’t Turn Me On (Disclosure Remix)

Take this remix of Artful Dodger as a case in point: It’s the sound of Friday emerging in triumphant form. This might be the last we hear of the Disclosure guys in 2012. Here’s to awaiting the next twelve months with baited breath.
