Nights out and new band recommendations come in plentiful supply with Neu’s daily guide to all the goings on in new music.

Big props (did I just say that?) to Balam Acab (pictured, above) for picking some choice supports for his tour this week. Tomorrow we’ll be recommending you some producers joining him for a Brighton date, but tonight our attention is on Manchester, and Greenwood Sharps. His ‘Things Familiar’ EP of 2011 remains his only collection of tracks, but his name has circuited the rounds these past twelve months, with an upcoming support slot on Halls’ album launch one of many 2012 triumphs to add to his musical CV. Tonight it’s all about giving Balam Acab something to rival.

If you’ve spent the past few months headfirst in the smoothly-told sadness of a How To Dress Well record or new Polydor signing Rhye’s debut tracks, Young & Sick will make for a fine listen: Delicious hip-hop production is coupled with a tender ballad style, all slick and softly-spoken. Gorgeous. Stream ‘House of Spirits’ up above.


Bear State are masters in the art of making a lazy hazy look-at-me-I’m-such-a-relaxed-guy song into a work of absolute mastery. ‘New Bodies’ is so smartly crafted but you barely notice it, so indulged are you in the song’s luscious uplifting nature.
