News The Neu Bulletin (13th December 2013)

Telegram, Tuff Love and Kyross feature in the last Neu Bulletin of 2013.

It’s been a ridiculous year of new music excitement, with these here daily updates featuring the likes of Blaue Blume, JUNGLE, SOPHIE, Totem, Inner Oceans and approximately 300 other new bands on DIY for the first time.

We’re getting reminscent because this is the last Bulletin of the year. We’ll be back in the first week of January 2014. Until then, anything exciting that happens new music-wise will still make it onto the Neu section of DIY.

THE GIG
Telegram support Black Wire - London, Birthdays

Obviously the big occasion tonight is the return of Leeds’ Black Wire. Still, new music obsessives have a warm up more effective than a boozy cup of mulled wine in the shape of retroists Telegram.

THE BIG NEU THING
Tuff Love

Yesterday Neu’s Big Thing, DEATHCATS, stood out as a bunch of grizzly-teethed scenery spoilers capable of just about anything. Tuff Love are a more mellow bunch, albeit one just as capable of sending basement venues into a rich, sweaty communion. The trio want to play at parties, apparently, and with a track like ‘Sweet Discontent’ (above), they’re clearly capable of soundtracking the bits in parties where 15 year olds drunk for the first time get introspective and maybe sit in a corner and have a good cry.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Kyross - L O S T

16 year olds shouldn’t be allowed near music equipment. Because when they’re good, they’re just about the most jealousy-inducing people in the world. Kyross takes the piss. He’s a ‘bedroom producer’ who’s making the streets of Vancouver light up in glitter-speckled gold. He’s already honed his craft to a T, weaving sharp bleeps through a kick-and-scream aesthetic. It’s exciting and it’s being made by somebody with the freshest perspective going. Kyle Cramer has a big future ahead of him.
