New music guide The Neu Bulletin (13th November 2014)

DIY’s daily new music dose, featuring Eliot Sumner and MOVIE.

The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out of the inbox.

Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery and follow our ‘Listen’-tag for everything new music related.

THE GIG:
Eliot Sumner - London, Eventim Apollo (supporting Lykke Li)

With her new stalker anthem ‘I Will Find You’ premiering on DIY last week, Eliot Sumner’s back in London for the latest date on a European tour with Lykke Li. These are her biggest shows to date, bringing to life affirmed pop that’s pulling zero punches.

THE BIG NEU THING:
MOVIE - Tusk Vegas (DIY Premiere)

It’s easy to see why hundreds are flocking towards MOVIE and their funk-laced, don’t-give-a-fuck pop. Throwing shapes on stage and off, this is jagged, Franz-inspired stuff to marvel at. ‘Tusk Vegas’ is their latest track, and we’re delighted to be premiering a similarly in-your-face video. Here, Theo Spark and co. link brilliantly catchy licks with a high-spirited burst of energy. It’s probably all those piña coladas they’re sipping - this serious strut has to come from somewhere.
