Neu’s daily guide to nights out and new music. Featuring Crushed Beaks and TRUST.

Your mandatory dose of new music recommendations, chosen by Neu.

We’ve reached the end of a ridiculous week of new music. Look out for our ‘This Week In New Music’ round-up tomorrow. Meanwhile, enjoy the start of the weekend by heading out to one of the following shows tonight:

WHO’S PLAYING WHERE? It is a veritable feast of alt at The Old Blue Last, as virtually every band with a shoegaze influence amasses in the top floor of the London venue to share the love. If you don’t mind not being able to use your ears for the rest of the weekend, make this a priority.

Crushed Beaks, Best Friends & Honeyslide (pictured, above) form a stellar cast at London’s Old Blue Last. Details here.

If scuzz and buzz don’t take your fancy, Face + Heel form part of another tasty looking bill, this time at Dalston’s The Nest.

WHO’S MAKING WAVES?
BOY FRIENDS CLUB make off-kilter pop that’ll leave you feeling queasy and reaching out for the nearest sink. Their Soundcloud page tags all the songs as ‘FUCKING’. That’s it. Pretences aside, we’re supplied with a solid amount of lo-fi experimentation, loaded to the top with pop hooks. However dreadful it leaves you feeling, you’ll always end up coming back for more. FURTHER NEU BUSINESS
Even though TRUST kind of (definitely) released their debut album earlier on this year, they’re going the whole hog again, putting out ‘TRST’ on PIAS/ Arts & Crafts October 15th. Why are we telling you about this? Because ‘Dressed For Space’ is an incredible track; ‘80s throwback with sensational twists. It’s one of the year’s most underrated songs and deserves heaps of praise. Re-releases are good because they remind us of the existence of songs such as this.
