News The Neu Bulletin (15th January 2013)

Neu’s daily new music & live music recommendations, featuring tonight’s Hello 2013 show and LA trio Sir Sly.

Every day of the week, Neu gives you a choice show and a selection of new music tips, all in the name of exposing you to something new and exciting.

If there’s a gig that’s worth heading to, we’ll tell you all about it, and if there’s a song you need in your life, we’ll make sure you don’t turn a blind eye. It’s the Neu Bulletin.

THE GIG
The Death Rays of Ardilla, MT, Wide Eyed, Bloody Knees - Neu Presents

Our second ‘Hello 2013’ show of the year looks set to take the baton from the first. We’re hoping for thick walls of noise and plenty of onlookers to get swept up in it all. Headliners Death Rays will certainly live up to the challenge, and with Bloody Knees’ first London show, B-town’s Wide Eyed (pictured, above) and the fascinating MT joining the bill, we’re blowing our own trumpet once more by saying this is one heck of a line-up.

THE SONG
Sir Sly

As easy as it might be to sport cynicism when seeing LA trio Sir Sly prepping a single on National Anthem & Neon Gold (two labels who almost always equate to a major-label warm-up), there’s enough in ‘Ghost’ to set your initial uneasiness aside. Besides, even if this whole thing is perfectly crafted to whet the appetites of suckers like you and I, who cares? ‘Ghost’ is a fleeting work of overstated emotional drama, all pieced together to form a succinct pop track chock-full of character. Synth-pop by some mysterious so-and-so. Heard it all before? Nah, not this time.

Only a complete extrovert, soon-to-be-imprisoned individual could come up with this.
