New music guide The Neu Bulletin (18th June 2014)

Neu’s daily new music guide contains Sophie Jamieson, Palms Vincent and Marielle.

The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular.

Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery.

THE GIG:
Sophie Jamieson - London, The Social

A support for Allman Brown at London’s free Social night, Sophie Jamieson is the latest signing to Luv Luv Luv, her recent single shifting softly-softly songwriting into a more curious environment. Don’t sleep on this one.

THE BIG NEU THING:
Palms Vincent - Get Together

Bold and shouty like a pack of wolves bloodthirsty for dinner, Palms Vincent’s debut track is a slick, gelled-back introduction that spills its drinks and confesses all its sins in one go. Sharp to the finest degree, it’s a song about addiction and - quite appropriately - it’s not the easiest thing to quit.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS:
Marielle - Found

Found by Marielle

Ottawa-based musician Marielle probably spends all her times on park benches by day, smoky jazz bars by night. That’s the impression given off by ‘Found’, which discovers its true self over the course of five smoky minutes. A bedroom production with a glossy touch, ‘Found’ is a rough-edged but impressive first effort.
