New music guide The Neu Bulletin (20th April 2015)

DIY’s new music tips, featuring Agua Roja and Babe Punch.

The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out the inbox.

Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery and follow our ‘Listen’-tag for everything new music related.

Babe Punch - Fixation

Trash the hotel, throw television sets out the window - Babe Punch aren’t the kind of band to cause subdued responses. The Nottingham / Derby newcomers deliver songs 10x quicker than any reasonable bunch would attempt. ‘Fixation’ - one of two songs floating around - is a ridiculously assured take from their self-released debut EP. No prisoners escape their nostalgia-rinsing blast of excitement.

Agua Roja - The Motion

Back in March, Paris’ Agua Roja put out their debut EP, a glistening guide for ignoring the pop rulebook. Hints of Beach House and newcomer Seinabo Sey float around in the pristine punch of a track like ‘The Motion’, but there’s a determination to avoid convention that defines this trio’s first steps.
