Seams - London, Electrowertz
London via. Berlin producer Jami Welch plays one of his biggest shows to date tonight, which is fitting considering he’s in the process of putting the final touches to a debut full-length. Last year’s double-EP release on Full Time Hobby was a defining moment. Tonight’s set at Electrowertz could be yet another.
THE SONG
THIN HYMNS - All Around You
Taken from a new ‘Black Water’ cassette, Chicago’s THIN HYMNS have taken a huge step forwards with their ‘All Around You’ track. Percussion’s cut short, vocals are abrupt and cutting in delivery. But combined, the whole piece amounts to one floaty vessel, sounding not too dissimilar to Here We Go Magic, as Head Underwater points out.
OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Favela - Pyor
Leeds producer Favela thinks on a different level to the rest of us chancers. ‘Pyor”s squeak-filled, unrelenting ambience wouldn’t even be considered for many a producer. It’s too up in the clouds, too breathless. But in spinning his own vocals into the mix, the newcomer takes something daring and turns it into a beautiful norm.
