THE GIG
Feathers, Glitches - London, The Old Blue Last

Austin’s Feathers make a rare visit to the UK this week, their disco melodrama pumping through the walls of London’s scenery at a constant on the 23rd. On Friday they visit Manchester, Saturday Bristol. But it all kicks off here.

THE SONG
Whilk and Misky - Darklands

Milk and whisky is a dodgy combination. Possibly deadly. Whilk and Misky though? Now we’re talking. ‘Darklands’ is a masterfully produced track, hoarse vocals egged on by clipped guitars and clicking fingers. Samples are ever-present, but never overwhelming - this could easily burst into the charts’ front door, totally uninvited. Great stuff from the London duo.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Teardrop Factory - Stolen Skull

Swaying with bended, gorgeous guitar licks, ‘Stolen Skull’ wraps itself around a moody beat of melody and distortion, or as Teardrop Factory themselves would have it, ‘fuzzy sludge’. They’re already winning approval from the DIY scene and surely with a brand of scuzzy summer rock, they’re deserving of plenty more. This standout track is taken from their forthcoming ‘Topshop’ EP, which is out next week via Faux Discx. Watch above. [Sean Stanley]
