Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “big Neu thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery.

THE GIG
Suvi w/ Farao - London, The Lexington

Scandinavia’s heyday isn’t stopping short anytime soon, as evidenced by tonight’s Ja Ja Ja gig, where the more established Farao rubs shoulders with brand new star ].

THE BIG NEU THING
Kyle Kimono

Swedish group Kyle Kimono continue where DIIV left off: Heady escape is expressed through tinny guitars and reverb-strung vocals, barely decipherable beneath a fog of boundless energy. On ‘Sauna’, repetitive guitar lines rush to the surface like blood to a fresh wound. ‘Argentinia’ - the second of two existing tracks - keeps things dreamy, dipping its head in South America with a hazy aesthetic its undying motif.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Men Among Boys

If London duo Men Among Boys are the next act to skew the conventions of what to expect from masculinity (following in the footsteps of Wild Beasts), then so be it. This is pumped up, brutish music delivered with a soft touch. Footstepping its way through R&B and soulful piano balladry, words are sometimes distinct, but they’re more exciting when they resemble primal calls (the song carries a chorus of just “ah-ee-a”). ‘Presence of Man’ is deadly serious about what it’s doing - that’s going to be a double-edged sword in the future, but Weeknd fans can swoon away for the time being.
