News The Neu Bulletin (24th February 2014)

Neu’s daily new music guide, featuring Arthur Beatrice, ROLE and Taui.

The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. We can’t please everyone, sorry.

Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “big Neu thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery.

THE GIG
Arthur Beatrice - London, Rough Trade East

Tonight’s plans don’t require all that much ‘Working Out’. One of London’s finest new bands arrive with a debut album to launch. They’ll be doing so at this free instore at Rough Trade East, pristine pop in waiting.

THE BIG NEU THING
Taui - Block

Slickly delivering on second after second, producer Taui’s first collection of tracks is an assured introduction. Based in Helsinki, puckered lips, cash registers and gunshots couldn’t match the sharp jolt of ‘Block’. Instrumental throughout, there’s very little further evidence needed to suggest that Taui should be working with some very big names in the future.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
ROLE - Ocean

Madrid group ROLE’s gradually enveloping ‘Ocean’ was a (very) early highlight of 2014. Sweet, short-lived and glazed over with glistening atmospherics, it’s a song that seeps into the system instead of giving it a massive shock. The video’s a similar journey, like a moving recreation of the ‘Warpaint’ album art. One face fades into the other, in a sleepy visual trip.
