The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. We can’t please everyone, sorry.

Honeyblood support Angel Olsen - London, Dingwalls


Glasgow duo Honeyblood have recorded a gutsy debut album due out this summer. It’s been doing the rounds in the DIY office recently, and it’s also earned the pair a support slot tonight with Angel Olsen. Honeyblood will be burning their fire for many a witness tonight

Mataya - My Love
My Love (prod. Poncho) by Mataya

Sweet, hip-hop fuelled, shuffling things such as ‘My Love’ are fairly commonplace. Mataya - a new Sydney artist, this being her debut track - coats everything in so-hot-right-now affiliations. Casually swaying between coaxing vocals and shiny, futuristic synths, what might be in vogue also sounds completely at ease, here. There’s no pretence, no desperate attempt to catch the attention of those with only fleeting interests. Mataya is here to stay.

Hideouts
Hideouts EP by Hideouts

On their debut, self-titled EP, Tom Baxter and Cara Mitchell aka Hideouts live up to their name by flocking away from convention, instead finding solace in the curious and playful. Ambient pop is the game, with songs formed out of reverse-cycle loops and vocals that echo and stir instead of sitting firmly in one place. Think Braids with fewer overlapping parts, Animal Collective with fewer acid flashbacks.
