New music guide The Neu Bulletin (26th January 2015)

DIY recommends the new Trace Mountains track - gig of the day is Radiator Hospital.

The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out of the inbox.

Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery and follow our ‘Listen’ tag for everything new music related.

THE GIG:
Radiator Hospital support Waxahatchee - London, St Pancras Old Church

They’ve kept this fairly quiet, but tonight sees Radiator Hospital playing a rare UK show in support of Waxahatchee at the beautiful setting of St Pancras’ Old Church. An early slot, their show follows on from the release of ‘Torch Song’, an LP that seems to have spread like wildfire from Bandcamp and beyond. Prolific to the extreme, don’t expect this to be the last time they come over to the UK.

THE BIG NEU THING:
Trace Mountains - Slow White Beams of Light

Signed to Double Double Whammy, Trace Mountains is the project of Dave Benton (from LVL UP, Spook Houses and more). Following on from last year’s ‘Buttery Sprouts’ LP, new song ‘Slow White Beams of Light’ sees him expanding his gaze, wobbling vocals and getting more real than ever in a truth-spitting blaze of glory. Intimate to the extent that he practically sounds like your best friend in an instant, Benton doesn’t do anything but direct.
