News The Neu Bulletin (26th October 2012)

Neu’s daily new music & live music recommendations, curated by editor Jamie Milton.

Neu’s got you covered for new music recommendations and nights out this week. Each day we’ll give you a choice gig, plus a selection of fresh artists to check out.

Halls, Rough Trade East, London

Rough Trade East’s album of the week is Halls’ debut ‘Ark’, and as a means of rounding out the past few days where it’s been sported proudly on their shelves, Sam Howard plays an in-store for the occasion. ‘Ark’ is one of the most uniquely immersive pieces of the year, and we say piece because of its cohesiveness and remarkable flow, its ability to stop you in your tracks from the first second onwards without letting your presence slip away. Go see it in the flesh.

Halls plays an in-store at London’s Rough Trade East, 6.30pm.

Kyson - Remi

Friday is either a time to shed the stresses, turn the music up loud and socialise, or it’s a time to unwind, chill out and watch the football & ‘Homeland’ with a four-pack (disclaimer: this might be semi-autobiographical, might not be). Those in favour of the latter will turn to Kyson. His debut ‘Blackstone’ LP (out 29th October through Moongadget Records) is one of the last musical gems to be unearthed before the year comes to a close; a delicious experiment in mind-expanding beatmaking. ‘Remi’ puts delicate twists at the top of its priorities, soundtracking the sombre weekend for every individual in need of one.

Yuno - Untitled by One For The People

This is one of those occasions when Neu goes into humble brag mode, for one of our beloved contributors did something truly awesome. Wayne Flanagan, who runs the One For The People blog, celebrated by persuading a ridiculous amount of great new bands to record an exclusive track for the occasion. There are so many things to discover here, from Yuno (stream that cut up above) to Poledo to Wild Smiles, that we’d be telling you about this anyway even if Wayne wasn’t one of our own.
