New music guide The Neu Bulletin (26th September 2014)

DIY’s weekend batch of tips include Kaleida, Sudakistan and kp.

The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out of the inbox.

Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery and follow our ‘Listen’-tag for everything new music related.

Kaleida - The Old Blue Last

Tonight sees future-pop duo Kaleida bringing their ominous pop to a free night at The Old Blue Last, London. They’re joined by melancholia-magnet Freddie Dickson and the impressive Sway Clarke.

kp. - where did you go

kp is an as-yet-anonymous artist specialising in emotion-struck synth pop bubbling up with beats that scream “2014!” and enough warped synth pads to declare this year officially over. Box-ticking to the extreme, debut track ‘where did you go’ survives in a saturated environment because it’s a pure example of on-point songwriting. Fancy tricks and ‘so hot right now’ add-ons aren’t strictly necessary - it’s the kind of track that’d turn heads in any year.

Sudakistan - Rabia

Think Goat have the Swedish primal freakout thing covered? Think again. Sudakistan - new to London label PNKSLM - are a brilliant rush of energy, a kick to the system that bring oddities to the forefront. ‘Rabia’ is, well, rabid. It’s a bloodthirsty beast unafraid to take over, jolt the system into a permanent glitch. Psych-inclined, this is nothing but pure force - no fucking around.
