THE GIG
Aeroplane, The Twelves, Gigamesh, Dena - London, The Village Underground
Neu favourite DENA brings her skipping rope and every other collected object in her entourage to this big mammoth event at The Village Underground, featuring tons other cool bands, but especially DENA. Tickets are £14.50, available on the door.
THE SONG
GRRL PAL - Amazon
Perth’s GRRL PAL defy almost every rule in the ‘synth-pop for dummies’ handbook. All their components are gloriously equalised, but they never sit still, always fidgeting, turning their gaze towards somewhere altogether different. This ‘Amazon’ song’s taken from a debut EP. In line with its title, it’s the sound of all the rainforest’s creatures uniting into a formidable front. Terrifying.
OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Until The Ribbon Breaks - Pressure
Loons have been let loose around some big-wig’s studio. That’s the impression you get, at least, when listening to this stunning ‘Pressure’ track from Cardiff’s Until the Ribbon Breaks, featuring a guest-verse from Mr. MFM eXquire. Beginning ‘knee deep in trouble’ with a host of snapping beats, it suddenly gives way to one heck of a break, and all hell erupts into a breathtaking, Chromatics-style melodrama.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
