New music guide The Neu Bulletin (2nd December 2014)

DIY’s new music guide contains Glasgow newcomer KLOE and Brighton producer Adolescent.

The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out of the inbox.

Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery and follow our ‘Listen’-tag for everything new music related.

THE GIG:
Adolescent, Sekuoia, DEEDS - London, The Waiting Room

Bit-by-bit, Brighton via South London producer Adolescent is cementing himself as a bright new hope in head-turning, all-encompassing electronica. Early tracks - like on the ‘Golden Halls’ EP - place him somewhere between MMOTHS and Gold Panda. Tonight, he supports Sekuoia at The Waiting Room.

THE BIG NEU THING:
KLOË - Grip

KLOË is a new Glasgow talent schooled in the noir-ish melodrama of The Neighbourhood, coupled with the heartfelt, sense-piercing directness of CHVRCHES. “You’ve fucked every girl in the room” is one of the most did-I-just-hear-that lyrics in months, and then onwards - as a swarm of synths bursts into the spotlight - zero punches are pulled. This is honest, gut-wrenching pop of the highest order.
