Raleigh Ritchie - London, The Old Blue Last
Talents don’t stop short at his brooding take on R&B, but Raleigh Ritchie’s fast making a spectacle of his chosen musical route. Recent single ‘Stronger Than Ever’ is probably making a dozen kids in bedrooms sob their eyes out this very second. This guy can only go up.
THE BIG NEU THING
Soak - Blud
Trust Chvrches to know a thing or two about new artists capable of turning emotions on their head. Soak is the band’s first signing to their newly established Goodbye Records. Real name Bridie Monds-Watson, she’s a Derry resident coining sweeping folk songs and giving them a vulnerable, anxious edge. In that sense, a song like ‘Blud’ is loosely aligned with the Scots responsible for signing her. Stripped of synths it might be, but the two artists align perfectly.

Soft Serve - Words
Sink Deep EP - 2013 by Soft Serve
Vancouver resident Kyle Thiessen’s worked up a curious debut EP with ‘Sink Deep’, frustrations forming into a rallying cry that closely resembles the bogged-down city grit of Parquet Courts. You can practically dive right into the coffee gone cold, the sweaty white shirts that stick to the skin. Released back in September 2013, this EP deserves a closer look. [thanks yvynyl]
