Features The Neu Bulletin (6th February 2014)
FAMY, Seahaven and Jack Garrett feature in Neu’s joyous bundle of new music tips today.
The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Some of the music you’ll like, some of it you won’t. We can’t please everyone, sorry.
Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “big Neu thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery.
THE GIG
FAMY - London, The Gunners
From today onwards, FAMY begin a residency of London, which essentially involves four shows spread across a month, with each side of the city playing host. The Transgressive signings begin up north, giving backing to their deranged, oddly euphoric folk pop.
THE BIG NEU THING
Seahaven - Flesh
It feels weird to say that L.A.’s Seahaven are having a good time on their track ‘Flesh’, - its bobbing riffs and pristine, vaguely pop punk melody undeniably hint towards feelings of fun, comradeship and having a bloody good time. Taken from their forthcoming full-length Reverie Lagoon: Music for Escapsim on Run For Cover Records, ‘Flesh’ is an erratic, albeit woozy punk song packing a certain bounceability that’ll have bodies moving no matter what. They’ll be touring the with Nai Harvest and Battle Lines this April, which is bound to have arms coming very close to making contact with faces across the country. [Tom Walters]
OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Jack Garrett - I Couldn’t Want You Anyway
How to seduce in 4 minutes, 34 seconds. Jack Garrett is new to the scene, barely anyone knows a single bit of info about him. Plus he has a really threatening looking beard that won’t do him any favours. But bloody hell his debut track is a spellbinding, lovely thing that injects soul into dusky mood pop, giving a bloated genre something new to think about.
