THE GIG
Woman’s Hour - London, Bethnal Green Working Mens Club

Launching their new single, Woman’s Hour are marking the beginning of a new chapter. The past few months has witnessed a ton of breakthroughs for the East London act - expect tonight’s hotly anticipated show to be another on the list. Rainer are playing a DJ set too, with Laura Groves supporting. How good is that?

THE SONG
DRALMS - Crushed Pleats
Crushed Pleats by DRALMS

Vancouver based musician Christopher Smith gets by on a blues-y groove for new DRALMS song ‘Crushed Pleats’. What might strut and pose on a side street is actually doing its best to avoid a dark undercurrent. It’s something that comes to the fore in ‘Crushed Pleats’, in gloriously grizzly circumstances. This bass-heavy effort recalls Suuns at their most terrifying & concrete. Signed to Boompa (The Belle Game, Woodpigeon), Smith combines with Shaunn Thomas Watt (Siskiyou), Peter Carruthers (Siskiyou) and Will Kendrick (Failing) with supreme confidence. A debut full-length is due out in early 2014.

MOLLY

The latter spits lines about the NHS and pills while Raisa constructs a dark, ever-pulsing backdrop that swarms its way into consciousness. Debut track ‘PATIENT’ is abrasiveness defined, with the kind of politically charged backing that contemporary music so requires.
