THE GIG
Bipolar Sunshine, Tuesday Born, Benin City - London, Birthdays
Backing one of Adio Marchant’s very first London dates (the first one brought a whole new meaning to packed, back in July) is crafty-pop clever clogs Benin City and soulful producer Tuesday Born. It’s all things exciting, coming out of the UK’s capital, compressed into one happy space.
THE SONG
Iris - Good Stuff
Sleep by Iris
‘Good Stuff’ might be the setting in motion of something special for Los Angeles grunge outfit Iris. Consider Wolf Alice at their darkest point, add a distinct Americana thrill, and turn the lights down a notch. That’s Iris. Michelle Malley’s vocals have a ghostlike presence, overseeing all things sinister and built up to be torn down.
OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Glue Trip - Lucid Dream
Brazilian masked duo Glue Trip might subtly approve the use of solvents (it’s a big might), but they’re worth forgiving on the basis of ‘Lucid Dream’. This floaty piece goes all fairground-style, using the lightest of instrumental parts and placing them together, until they’re something greater, forming a sweet blanket of gorgeous, sweeping bliss.
