TONIGHT’S GIG WHICH HAS ACTUALLY BEEN MOVED TO A MONDAY NOW. GOT THAT?
Night Works - London, Rough Trade East Instore

Celebrating the launch of his debut LP, Gabriel Stebbing (formerly of Metronomy) plays a free instore at London’s primary record store. Splash the cash on a copy of ‘Urban Heat Island’ on your way out, will you?
[Take not of the date change, folks. It’s been moved to Monday 11th March]

THE WEEKEND GIG
Wolf Alice - Reading, Oakford Social Club (DIY Presents) - Saturday 9th

So good we had to book them twice in three months: Wolf Alice headlined our ‘Hello 2013’ show in London this past January, and they brought such a crowd with them we deemed it common sense to see the four-piece sport the likes of ‘Fluffy’ to eager onlookers all over again.

THE SONG
Spring King - Avocado City

I’m not sure if producers going solo has always been a thing but –if not- its starting to become one. Kwes did it last year to massive critical, if little commercial, acclaim and now Tarek Musa, who’s worked with Jethro Fox and Eye Emma Jedi in the past, has given it a go. Creating ramshackle slices of understated garage-pop as Spring King he’s channeled the sunny, west-coast slacker ethos of Wavves and made something all of his own. ‘Waiting’, one of three tracks he dropped this week, is the best cut.
