Neu’s daily guide to nights out and new music. Featuring Young Fathers and D/R/U/G/S.

Nights out and new band recommendations come in plentiful supply with Neu’s daily guide to all the goings on in new music.

WHO’S PLAYING WHERE?
Last week we recommended Raheem Sterling tribute act Young Fathers, who aren’t *strictly* under the Neu branch of bands, but they’re releasing ‘Tape One’ on the Anticon label, most well known for having WHY? on their roster. FURTHER NEU BUSINESS
D/R/U/G/S has produced his most ambitious work to date. ‘Ring Of Endless Light’ concludes the new, free ‘Amphibian EP’ available on the producer’s website. Spanning eight minutes and rarely ceasing in its pure, ungrounded beauty, it recalls Luke Abbott at his most mind-expanding, or Four Tet for a sombre occasion. The more I hear it the more I hear a similarity to Stay+’s early material, and there’s even a slight hip-hop influence swimming around in the background. It’s worthy of being picked out for special praise. D/R/U/G/S goes on tour with Delphic this month - the dates can be found on his website.
