Triad God

Neu Triad God

Vinh Ngan makes music of a sparse, unconventional disposition. It’s unlike anything we’ve heard before.

The Hippos In Tanks label is one of the most daring and important around. Willing to go with an initial gut feeling, even if the electronic music is dense, obstructive, unusual, they’ll go with it. Nguzunguzu are particular favourites of ours from the past 12 months. Next year will be the year of Triad God. Born in Vietnam, raised in Hong Kong and now residing in London, his words are alien to these ears, but that only works to heighten the intrigue; the sense that something truly unusual is working its way through your headspace.

‘Remand’ pieces together snippets of playful synth work and Triad God’s own, seemingly rhythmless lyricism. By definition, he’s rapping. But one listen in - and by that point you’re bound to be hooked - and it sounds like something way beyond rapping, beyond comprehension, even.

Stream the ambient genius of ‘Pok’ here. And play ‘Remand’ below. The ‘NXB’ (New Cross Boys) mixtape is out 13th November:
