You’ll spend the summer putting your arms in the air to his obscenely brilliant pop tracks.

It’s not uncommon for people to feel that they’ve been cheated out of their true calling in life – office bods alienated from their true vocation as a dancer, builders who could’ve been professional footballers, teachers that dreamt of being an acclaimed author. But you could empathise with unouomedude if he ever had a sense of entitlement about things. Despite only just coming out of his teens, the Florida native is cooped up in his bedroom making songs that should rightfully be crowding the airwaves and filling dancefloors.

Last year’s Marsh EP showcased it all – shimmering glamour, a touch of humility and a kind of glowing melody running throughout, perfectly surmised with the nigh-on perfect track ‘Island Summer’. The perfect mixture of yearning and happiness, it’s a sun-drenched waltz through half-forgotten memories without being anywhere near that pretentious. A genuine undiscovered gem, it takes the best bits of Washed Out – namely the reverb, nostalgia and yearning – slims it down, preps it up and churns it out with a series of free releases.

Compared to his usual output, it’s been a relatively quiet few months for uno, snowed under with school work and a series of other projects, but the turn of the New Year has seen a promise of new material and hopefully the acclaim that he rightfully deserves. If there’s any justice, you’ll spend the summer putting your arms in the air to his obscenely brilliant pop tracks. Until now, a tinny sway through your laptop speakers is more than enough to get by on.
