It never ceases to amaze just how music can move you in innumerable different ways. Sometimes a piece of music can be wildly thrilling and invigorating, and sometimes it can be so beautifully understated and expertly realised that you become utterly immersed in its splendour. Entranced by an elusive feeling that is impossibly powerful. The latter feeling is one that is generated repeatedly while listening to the music of Nottingham producer Matt Livingstone, who goes under the mysterious moniker of .Warner.

.Warner. makes a kind of somnambulant hazy electronica that captivates with every off beat click and bounce and soulful vocal sample. His music shares much of early dubstep’s smokey ambient soul, but there is a uniqueness about the way the sounds mesh together through Livingstoke’s hugely impressive production skills.

There are as yet only four pieces of music available but each track provides an abundance of compelling sounds. The droning swing of ‘Luna’ is the standout so far. Reminiscent of Portishead at their darkest and most drawn out, it is a staggering introduction to the work of a producer who should inevitably take his place alongside UK music’s foremost progressive electronic minds.
