News Wild Belle

To the naked eyes and ears, Wild Belle might be following a simple formula. They run a tumblr, where lo-resolution photographs of landscapes and animals are posted on a daily basis. There’s two of them (brother-and-sister Natalie and Elliott Bergman) and they’ve one song to their name and a plentiful supply of hype to back it up. But the song itself…Well, it’s of completely different proportions and quality to your run-of-the-mill blog band affair.

‘Keep You’ is as good an opening mission statement as you’re ever likely to encounter. Natalie Bergman’s vocals are commanding, even above a bold horn section. In amongst the stirring, reggae-indebted rhythm section are light, proudly-applied synth patterns. It’s produced to perfection, so you get the sense that they’ve either already put touches to an album, or the duo have a wealth of talents that they’ve yet to expose. Regardless, it’s here, it’s tantalisingly good and it leaves us begging for more.
