News World Tour

Too many acts rouse some excitement then go months without giving us the slightest idea of who they are.

Too many acts unveil an mp3, rouse some excitement and go months without giving us the slightest idea of who they are - forget influences and hobbies, we don’t even get names. Turns out that with World Tour (who, just to help the cause, are practically un-google-able), an act who’ve begun to lure in a lot of interest through debut single ‘Sparks’, they merely forgot to announce themselves: First you ought to know that the three-piece (Tobias, Felix and Merike) reside in northern Sweden. Scandinavia seems to be thriving; whilst The Knife have slowly descended into relative anonymity, the likes of Niki and the Dove and Lykke Li are racing to the front of the picture. So, without generalising every Scandinavian export around today, it does whet the appetite knowing that World Tour make their music in similar territory.

Another reassuring fact is that the trio have drawn considerable adoration from their label Cascine - arguably one of the hottest around today, with newcomers Chad Valley and Selebrities also on the roster. “They literally got floored by [‘Sparks’] and we really liked everything about them. So when they asked us to join the family, it was an easy decision.” ‘Sparks’ itself is a deep, propulsive and eerily beautiful first effort, painting a picture of the band’s home: “Maybe it’s the almost arctic environment we’re living in. Maybe we tried to capture and share that cold breeze for those who haven’t felt it the way we feel it every day.”

A youthful act having formed in the Autumn of last year, they’re prepping an EP release for the summer, consisting of songs swept together during that productive period of 2010 - “ We spent the autumn listening to and creating music in Felix’s parents basement” say the band, “It wasn’t really a practical choice to create World Tour, it just happened… Everything about the project has evolved by itself quite naturally.” The next chapter comes this summer, where the winter chill takes its time off from Northern Sweden but gets immortalised in World Tour’s future efforts.
