One mindblowingly smart Ciara sample does not make a superstar electronic producer, but Youan, a UK musician of relative anonymity, is making a serious case for being an exception to the rule.

‘Promises’ began it all. Equipped with that sample, it was a sound lifted directly from the glorious depths of Rinse FM playlists and the echo of London clubs spilling their guts. Intelligent, direct and instantly memorable: This soulful debut gem was enough to whet the appetite for a good six months, with only remixes of Crystal Fighters and Clockwork Radio respectively tickling the tastebuds.

True to its name, the debut song promised a great deal, and ‘That Feel’ more than meets expectations.
