Not gonna lie, I have only recently discovered the wonder of the National. I misjudged, assuming them to be as dull and banal as their artwork, band name and album titles, but man are they great. New album High Violet is a treat and a half, and what with a reliable source having pinned them as one of Glastonbury's highlights, their live show should provide further wonderment.

Godfather's of the fuzzed out guitar sound (of this generation, anyway), ABO's latest outing Coconut has wowed the critics and the fans. Having left three years between this and their last release, pursuing side projects (see the Pyramids), it's great to see the guys back on the circuit. ABO, oh how we have missed thee.

With the re-release of 'Stillness Is The Move', undoubtedly 2009's single of the year/summer anthem/best thing ever, Dirty Projectors may just win themselves that same title, second year running. With a live show that's renowned for being as beautifully grand as it is intimate, they're sure to garner some appellation, mainly that of loveliest festival performance.

Spawn of Serge and Jane. It's basically like seeing them, just rolled into one. Need I say more?
Oh yeah, her Beck-tinted record's pretty much awesome.

These guys kick ass! Their sound is generally thrown into the “yeah... world music...” category, but they're totally into Metallica, and if we're lucky, they may give us some covers. Scrap that, they most probably will. I'd say it's about as likely they will as it is Spain winning the World Cup, which, right now, is looking pretty good.

It’s the first new material with their current lineup.
Buoyant and witty, and notably shy of meandering eight-minute odysseys.
The band’s new album ‘Lamp Lit Prose’ is out next month.
The record’s first single ‘Break-Thru’ is streaming now.
