In the magazine April 2022

Featuring Orville Peck, Fontaines DC, The Linda Lindas, Walt Disco and loads more.

Whether it’s a true crime podcast, a gripping TV drama or just your classic musician-in-a-strange-headpiece, we at DIY love a bit of mystery; which is perhaps why we’ve been so intrigued by Orville Peck for so long. Ever since the world’s most enigmatic musical cowboy first emerged with his 2019 debut ‘Pony’, we - much like the rest of the world - couldn’t get enough; as he now gears up to release his new album ‘Bronco’, we’re ecstatic to welcome him to the cover of DIY for the first time.

And as it just so happens, cowboys have become a bit of a theme in the rest of this month’s issue… Not only do we head to Austin, Texas for our annual fill of new music at SXSW, but we also take the wonderful Walt Disco to a quintessential Texan ranch - and chat about their brilliant debut ‘Unlearning’ - for good measure. We also meet inspiring punk quartet The Linda Lindas, dig into the story behind Fontaines DC’s newest record, talk politics and punk with Bob Vylan and delve into Role Model’s new record.

And that’s not all! We also catch up with the mighty Self Esteem, find out what Phoebe Green’s been up to recently (spoiler alert: she’s been lighting up stages alongside Self Esteem!), and give you a full guide of what to catch at the inaugural edition of DIY Alive, which is happening later this month.

Can’t wait to dive in? We bet! Our new April 2022 issue is available to read online right now! And, you can order your very own physical copy of the mag and it’ll come whizzing through your letterbox in the next few days.
