News Gaslight Anthem To Write New Record Next Year
Frontman Brian Fallon talks about going ‘weird’ on record number five.
The Gaslight Anthem have revealed they will be writing their new album after going on the road in 2013.
The New Jersey quartet look set to be touring until October in support of their recent LP ‘Handwritten’, but will take the opportunity to write album number five immediately afterwards.
Frontman Brian Fallon spoke to Rolling Stone about the new album, saying it’s okay to be ‘weird’ on the next record. 'We're searching for something new to do with songwriting, rather than just piecing together verses and choruses in more of a traditional sense. We're looking for some other thing – not some other genre, but something else. And it might not be the favorite of everyone.”
Drummer Benny Horowitz added that the band are “looking for something else to be inspired by”, with Fallon throwing in Pearl Jam's ‘No Code’ record as an example of something experimental that turned out to be brilliant.
The Gaslight Anthem will tour the UK in March 2013, with the dates looking something like this:
