News James Murphy Suing DFA Records Co-Founder, Tim Goldsworthy

James Murphy has begun legal proceedings against Tim Goldsworthy, the UK producer with whom he formed DFA Records in 2001.

The lawsuit, which was revealed by dnainfo.com, was apparently filed on Friday, and accuses Goldsworthy of 'failing to perform services he was paid for, owing outstanding loans, improperly using the company credit card and making unauthorised withdrawals from its bank accounts'.

Goldsworthy left DFA in 2010, when he returned to his family in the UK, although he claimed to still be part of the company, Jonathan Galkin (who also formed the label with Goldsworthy and Murphy) said at the time that he left with no notice. The lawsuit claims that 'attempts to amicably resolve this matter were rebuffed' and accuses the producer of 'breach of contract' and 'unjust enrichment.'

The total that the label claim that they are owed is $93,899, and they're also seeking punitive damages and legal fees.
