Las Aves cartwheel into view with ‘Die in Shanghai’

Parisian outfit Las Aves specialise in gloss-coated, punch-throwing pop; their debut outing ‘Die in Shanghai’ - released earlier this year - is brimming with the stuff. In their new video for the stand-out title track, the mysterious French band quite literally do forward-flips, as well, which is fairly impressive.

The band’s latest video completes a trio of visual treats, and connects with ‘Leo’ and ‘N.E.M’. Explaining the idea behind the whole thing, the band’s Géraldine Baux explains: “This project is a trilogy of music videos where we wanted to put the light on girls doing their own thing, with their own style. We’ll embark you on a journey to Los Angeles (“Leo”), London (“N.E.M.”) and Shanghai (“Die in Shanghai”) to meet those amazing girls around the world. To just watch them as they enjoy their freedom, their differences, or even their normality.”

‘Die in Shanghai’ follows a troupe of nifty, pink-clad performers, as they diablo, cartwheel, hula-hoop, and plate-spin their way around the song’s namesake They all look fairly smug, but then who can blame them when they’re capable of improv-building a human pyramid in the middle of a carpark?

The band are UK-bound next month, with a show lined up at London’s Shacklewell Arms on December 3rd.
