Listen: La Roux Return With ‘Let Me Down Gently’ From ‘Trouble In Paradise’ LP
First album since 2009 comes out this July via Polydor.
It’s been five years since La Roux released an album. In that time an awful lot’s changed, but Elly Jackson’s quiff - and her exciting take on pop - remains very much the same.
‘Let Me Down Gently’ is the first track from the new album ‘Trouble In Paradise’. The record is released on 7th July via Polydor, and the lead track just premiered on the Zane Lowe Radio 1 show.
Track titles on the new album include ‘Sexotheque’, ‘Uptight Downtown’ and ‘Cruel Sexuality’. Although the new song lacks the full-on punch of a ‘Bulletproof’, it’s a more restrained but equally forthright effort and it’s proof that La Roux is back for good.

Sound & Vision: La Roux
2014’s ‘Trouble In Paradise’ may have proved an all-too-relevant title, but with new LP ‘Supervision’, La Roux’s Elly Jackson is striding out on her own and swearily taking back control.

3 Stars
Largely inoffensive and wholly listenable. Which is fine, but we’ve come to expect more from La Roux.
