Listen: Lo-Fang Announces New ‘#88’ / ‘Boris’ Single

Matthew Hemerlein is an LA-based songwriter who, until the coining of Lo-Fang, recorded a few lovely things such as this under his own solo name. All very Andrew Bird-y and lovely.

He’s since taken to being signed to 4AD, who release his debut album in early 2014. That’s preceded by a new single, ‘#88’ / ‘Boris’, which comes out via 12’ on 7th October.

Both sides are curious things, very Sufjan Stevens in its blend of folk truths and a cutting electronic backing. ‘Boris’ is the more sinister of the two, with ‘#88’ being a heady offering with some clever, experimental production. They’re both promising signs of things to come. Stream below:
