News Listen: Standard Fare Announce Posthumous Single ‘Rumours’
Sheffield trio announce their final 7, to be released through Kingfisher Bluez Records.”
Having given them a mini obituary and then conducted their last ever interview as a going concern to boot, we thought we'd heard the last of Sheffield three-piece Standard Fare after last month's split. But we were wrong, as evidenced by this posthumous, final single that caught even team DIY's most ardent of the band's fans unawares.
Their first release since last year's offerings for the Where It's At Is Where You Are singles club and set in the rubble of a break-up, 'Rumours' sees the song's main protagonist reflecting on what once was, while listening to the titular Fleetwood Mac record and “crying my eyes out”. Set to a shuffling backbeat, the track - backed with b-side 'Out Of Sight' - is being released via Vancouver label Kingfisher Bluez as a hand-numbered, 300-edition 7” on 30th May.
Pre-orders can be placed through the label's Bandcamp and you can have a listen to the track below.
