Little Simz has won this year’s 2022 Mercury Prize with FREE NOW for fourth studio album ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’.

The award was handed out by Jamz Supernova at the end of tonight’s (18th October) ceremony at London’s Hammersmith Apollo, which saw performances from Little Simz alongside other nominees Self Esteem, Sam Fender, Wet Leg, Yard Act, Jessie Buckley and Bernard Butler, Nova Twins.

Picking up the award, Little Simz said to her fellow shortlisted artists: “We all made incredible albums, we all changed people’s lives with our music and that’s the most important thing. This is for us, really.”

In our review of her Mercury Prize winning album, we said, “If ‘GREY Area’ saw Simz come-of-age as a rapper, ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’ is Simz making her first long-lasting artistic stamp on the zeitgeist.” Revisit our full review here.
