News Manchester Orchestra Bassist Announces Departure
Jonathan Corley has announced that he has left the band, with plans to pursue a career outside of music.
They may have only recently released a brand new but unbelievably rare EP, but it seems as though Manchester Orchestra have said goodbye to another member.
This time, the departure comes in the form of bassist Jonathan Corley, who has decided to pursue a career outside of music.
The news was broken by the band themselves, when they posted the following message on their Facebook page, which included a statement from Corley himself:
Another time for change has come in the life of Manchester Orchestra. Our dear friend and bassist Jonathan Corley has made the decision to part ways with the band and pursue another career outside of playing music. This was a very obviously a very difficult decision but J is our eternal brother and we wish him the absolute best. There is no doubt that he will find success in any area he pursues. He will remain a part of the Manchester Orchestra family forever and there is no way we can thank him enough for the time he has spent with us over the last 9 years.

'After much thought and consideration, I've made the decision to end my career with Manchester Orchestra. The past nine years have been an incredible journey and this was absolutely one of the most difficult decisions I've made. I am very proud of what we accomplished together and cannot wait to see where the band goes from here. I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had to work and tour with a wide range of talented and supportive people and I will carry these experiences with me for the rest of my life. I would sincerely like to thank all of the fans, friends, family, and bands that have offered overwhelming support throughout the years. I am very excited to begin the next chapter of life. Thank you for the wonderful years and experiences.
Jonathan Corley'
In 2011, the band lost their drummer Jeremiah Edmond after he departed the band to focus on his family life, and label, Favorite Gentlemen.
The band's third album, 'Simple Math', was released back in 2011.
