News Standard Fare Announce Split
The Sheffield indie pop band will play two final shows in Sheffield and London in February and March before calling it a day after nine years.
Blue Monday is claimed to be the most depressing day of the year, falling on the last Monday of January. But that date could well leap forward a few weeks for fans of Standard Fare in 2013, who have announced that they'll be calling it quits after nine years together.
The Sheffield indie pop three-piece put out two full-length albums - 2010's 'The Noyelle Beat' and 2011's 'Out of Sight, Out of Town' - in their time together as well as a handful of popular singles, building a loyal fanbase along the way.
But the three-piece will play their last ever gigs together in London and Sheffield later this year, they've announced.
Posting the news on Facebook and their official website last week, the band said they parted on 'friendly terms' and would 'all continue to make music in various guises'.
Emma, Danny, and Andy will play 'farewell shows' in Sheffield on 16th February (details to follow) and at Popfest in London on 2nd March.
The full message posted to announce the news reads as follows:
Hi everyone,
We are sad to announce that after nine years of playing together, we are finishing Standard Fare on a high. We part on friendly terms and will all continue to make music in various guises.
It's been amazing to be able to release two albums, several singles, to travel and play in so many places, and to meet so many fantastic people.
We want to express our gratitude to our labels Melodic, Thee SPC, and Bar None, all the promoters who've put us on, anyone who's written nice things about us, Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens, Tom Robinson, and other radio DJ's who've played us, Alan at 2Fly for recording nearly everything we've released and finally all of you who have listened, come to gigs, said hi! Thank you - we've had a fantastic time.
To say farewell we're doing two final gigs, Sheffield Feb 16th and London Popfest March 2nd so do come and say goodbye! Details to follow.
Lots of love from us, Andy, Dan, and Emma
