News Watch: The Knife Offer Insight Into ‘Shaking The Habitual’
Watch ‘The Interview’ and get an insight into the recording process of the duo’s new album.
The Knife are renowned for their mysterious ways and things have been no different with the release of their brand new album.
Having released their epically long 'Shaking The Habitual' earlier this week (8th April), the Swedish duo have now granted us access to a very rare insight: they have conducted their own filmed interview.
The clip - titled simply, 'The Interview' - was created with Marit Östberg, the man behind their recent 'Full Of Fire' video, and sees them delving into some detail about the recording process for the follow-up to 2006's 'Silent Shout'.
“We didn’t plan to make another album
We wanted to do something again but had to find a purpose
Music can be so meaningless
We had to find lust
Started to improvise
to find something less predictable
to let go of what we already knew about music
explore what we didn't
without requiring complete answers
letting go
step in to oblivion
to forget expectations
by entering the work process with an open and inquiring mindset, the record turned in to something completely different than it would have been if the end goal had been a finished album all along
Once you stop caring about rules.”
