Bear’s Den win hearts and table tennis at Latitude 2016

The alternative folk outfit bring gratitude and a winning grin to Henham Park.

Previewing upcoming album release ‘Red Earth & Pouring Rain’ alongside old favourites, Bear’s Den are primed to impress. Effortlessly pleasing melodies and repeated refrains are quick to gratify as the jam out their interwoven riffs beneath the bright lights. It’s a polished world that Bear’s Den create, making even the most complex of emotions sound almost like a luxury. Smooth melodies and multi-layered instrumentals form a backdrop as rich and luscious as the woodlands that surround the site.

Even when stripped back, they manage to sound bold and all encompassing. intricately woven refrains and delicately constructed harmonies give breath to emotions capable of wiping everything else away. Threading the songs together is an unfailing sense of appreciation and a gleeful sense of humour. “I feel a little embarrassed today. It’s normally at the end of the show I’m all sweaty, but before we came on I was engaged in a furious match of table tennis with our manager,” Andrew Davie asserts. “I won.”

“We can’t say how cool it is to be a part of this festival,” Andrew proclaims, full of sincerity. “I remember getting an email if we wanted to do it, and just looking at the rest of the line up and thinking ‘that is the coolest thing ever.’ So thank you so much for coming down. We’re honoured to be just a small part of that.”

The crowd are as elated as the band to be sharing in this moment. Couples embrace and twirl to the tapestry of sound while friends raise each other up (and promptly drop each other back down), marking this out as a band that truly bring people together.
