Late Of The Pier - Kentish Town Forum

Their onstage act is certainly one to savour.

Late of the Pier

have experienced a somewhat meteoric rise to fame, from playing in some fairly dingy rooms to more recently playing massive sold out venues nationwide, it is safe to say that they have had a great 2008, and 2009 will undoubtedly turn out to be even better. There are however some definite constants, firstly their live performance. Their onstage act is certainly one to savour. It is dazzling to say the least. They are charismatic and are so tight it seems almost worrying. Their audience is certainly on the same wavelength as them, and tonight are brutally raucous so much that the band seems almost overwhelmed by it all. The sense of fun, with hints of craziness, is the defining factor of tonight. Take ‘VW’ as an example, the space-age like approach packs a punch with a ferociously near-metal accompaniment is lapped up by the crowd, whereas Late of the Pier react to the sounds they create with a seemingly dazed act. For an encore, they debut a new song ‘Blueberry’, which is certainly set to become a crowd-pleaser in the near future. For it they were joined by Connan Mockasin and members of his band to sing high pitched, childlike vocals followed by a Barry White style in the final chorus. Late of the Pier have much to be envious of. By the sound of it, this is just increasing as their second album looms.
