The Weeknd airs ‘M A N I A’ short film
Watch Abel Tesfaye go on a murderous night out.
Ahead of his new album ‘Starboy’ (out this Friday, 25th November), The Weeknd has unveiled a 12-minute short film called ‘Mania’.
Airing below, ‘M A N I A’ is all fast cars, dimly-lit clubs and - in keeping with his ridiculously gory ‘False Alarm’ video - a blood and guts murder-cruise. It’s directed by Grant Singer, and comes backed by short snippets of new Weeknd songs, including the Daft Punk collaboration ‘I Feel It Coming’.
In a recent interview with Beats 1, Abel sat down with Zane Lowe to talk his new LP. Speaking about his Daft Punk collaborations, he said “Guy-Man and Thomas were kind of directing me, they want it to sound as authentic as possible. As retro as possible.” He also described Kendrick Lamar as a “genius”, adding: “It wasn’t just a random Kendrick Lamar verse, it was something special because again, I don’t like to say this all the time, but we’ve known each other for a while and it’s crazy how we started connecting on this record.”
The full Beats 1 interview airs tonight. Check out a preview here.
