Alpines’ rise has been gradual, albeit sprinkled with one achievement after the other. The past year has been spent recording a debut album with Craig Silvey (Portishead, Arcade Fire), receiving remixes from XXXY, among others, collaborating with Maya Jane Coles and bringing out a brilliantly-received single through Polydor, in the form of ‘Cocoon’.

But the crowning glory in these past 12 months has to be the video for the single itself. Visually-perfect enough to feature in a Chanel advert, both of Alpines’ members (Bob Matthews and Catherine Pockson) show off their model looks to devastating effect, either in extravagant costume to alongside gorgeous visual effects. More than anything, it was a dramatic introduction, one that showcased a pop act with an almighty amount of ambition.

The previous year however looks set to be outdone on all fronts, with a support slot for Florence & The Machine coming up on 10th March, as well as the release of that potentially huge debut album.
